Microsoft hosted its annual Ignite conference on October 12-14, 2022. The hybrid event focused on various announcements that affect Windows users, as well as businesses and their networks. Here is a brief recap of some of the things announced at Microsoft’s 2022 Ignite conference for businesses.
New Programs
Microsoft Intune Premium Suite
New cloud-based software called Microsoft Intune Premium Suite will be available starting in 2023. The InTune Premium Suite will include the following:
- Endpoint Privilege Management
- Remote Help
- Microsoft Tunnel for Mobile App Management
- Advanced Endpoint Analytics Capabilities
Remote Help
Microsoft is launching a new program called Remote Help. Remote Help will be a business version of their current program QuickAssist.
The program allows an administrator to log in remotely to any joined domain or employee Microsoft account desktop to monitor and manage user activity.
Program Upgrades
Microsoft Teams Premium
Microsoft is offering an upgrade for Teams users that will include a premium version of the collaboration platform.
This upgrade consists of several new AI offerings for large meetings, including:
- automated captions
- live translation capabilities
- triggered meeting recaps
- generated to-do lists
Microsoft 365
Microsoft Outlook will be rebranding under the name Microsoft 365 and will be accessed using a different URL starting November 2022.
Security Plan Pricing Changes
Microsoft plans to offer businesses an incentive to move away from traditional antivirus platforms. It will give new and existing account holders a 50% discount off the price of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint P1 and P2 licenses.
This change will begin November 1, 2022, and is valid through June 30, 2023.
